THE SPIRITUAL PRACTICE OF HUMOUR
Rev. Victoria Ingram
Music: Sydney Street Trio (Tom Nagy, Stephen Preece, Colin Read).

You may have seen the bumper sticker: “Life’s too mysterious to take too serious.” Not everything, we know, is funny, but it doesn’t hurt to approach life with a sense of humor and a willingness to laugh out loud now and again. Are there ways to exercise our laugh muscles as a part of our spiritual practice?
Let’s find out!

Rev. Victoria Ingram is the minister at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Los Gatos, California. Rev. Ingram left corporate life after a 25 year career in human resources, graduating from Starr King School for the Ministry, Berkeley, CA, in 2007. She and her husband, Carl, are visiting Canada (one of their favorite places) and both enjoy a good laugh.

Rev. Jessica Purple Rodela
Music: Boyd McDonald

THE PATRON SAINT OF EVERYTHING
Rev. Jessica Purple Rodela
Music: Anwyn Musico and Stephen Preece.

St. Martin de Porres of Peru is the patron saint of television, rats, and social justice. As one of our cherished Six Sources, Unitarians celebrate the “words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love.”

GOOD TIMING
Rev. Jessica Purple Rodela
Music: Stephen Preece.

Time, lately, has been on my mind, if not on my side. When a mentor challenged me to learn to “manage time” better, I recalled Einstein, “The Quantum Tamers,” Kant, Heidegger, and Carl Sandburg who wrote: “Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.” If you are experiencing ‘déjà vu’ reading this, it’s because this topic was postponed from an earlier proposed date. Ironic, eh? This service will include a welcoming of new members.

DREAMS FOR A NEW YEAR
Fiona Heath
Music: Stephen Preece

In the cold depth of winter, in the midst of snow and ice, we dream away the dark nights. What dreams do we have for the new year? Today we'll warm ourselves with possibilities. Join us for an informal sharing service: bring poems, stories, new year's resolutions. We will share our dreams and let them go into the mystery through a fire ritual.
